A gallery of original vintage posters commissioned by the Italian State Tourist Board for the promotion of tourism will be exhibited in the Abu Dhabi from next week.

From the snow-capped peaks of the Alps to the domes of Florence, the canals of Venice and the ancient historical monuments of Rome, the posters, which date from between 1920 to 1950 will take the visitor on a pictorial tour of the country.

Notably some of the poster illustrators of the 20th century were also great painters such as Mario Borgoni, Marcello Dudovich, Walter Molino and Giuseppe Riccobaldi. By placing these posters in an exhibition setting, the talent of these artists is being celebrated.

Organised by the Embassy of Italy in Abu Dhabi, the exhibition will take place at the Emirates Palace and Ferrari World in the capital with different posters in each location.

All the posters belong to the collection of Alessandro Bellenda, founder of Galleria L'Image, an Italian gallery specialising in the sale and purchase of original advertising posters of the 20th century.

* Italy: A Journey Through Time in the art of Italian Travel Poster will take place from June 4th to 15th of June (in Emirates Palace from 10am to 11pm and in Ferrari World from 11am to 8pm).
