These are pictures from Al Ain’s first art biennial, which took place last week at the city’s Rotana hotel. Over the course of the week, 40 artists from 32 countries took part in the event, organized by the Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development.
Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development inaugurated the event, which exhibited more than 90 pieces of art and also featured music concerts.
Under the theme, Earth’s Dream, 20 of the artists also painted a 4x2 metre mural about the history of the UAE and the features of its development, which will be presented to the Abu Dhabi National Theatre.
Shaikh Nahyan praised the event as a success and hailed it as a symbol of connection among different generations. He also said holding the event in Al Ain was due to its growing importance as a centre of culture, art and knowledge, and for its rich history and heritage. He also added that the UAE has many talented artists with great potential capable to produce beautiful works of art. Finally, he attributed the UAE’s foremost position in arts and culture as a result of the seeds planted by the country’s founder Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
