The Gulf Capital Abu Dhabi Festival Visual Arts Award is now open for entries. This is an open call competition for emerging Emirati visual arts students and practitioners. They must to visit the Abu Dhabi Festival exhibition, The Art of Nature, at Umm Al Emarat Park in the capital and create an artwork inspired by the pieces presented. The award is Dh10,000.
Launched at the Abu Dhabi Festival 2013, the award was established to support the UAE visual arts scene, nurturing the creativity of Emirati students and emerging artists, and encouraging them to experience and be inspired by the Abu Dhabi Festival annual exhibition.
In 2016, the award was won by Sara Al Ahbabi, for her photography series, Here's What They Think of Me?, which was part of her capstone project at NYU Abu Dhabi and was later displayed in the Emirates Palace.
Registration is open now until April 23.
