Weeks after welcoming their first child together, celebrity couple Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli have revealed the name of their newborn daughter, sharing the first photo of her on Instagram.

Sharma, a Bollywood actress and producer, posted a picture of the couple lovingly cradling their daughter, who they have named Vamika, in a nursery filled with pink balloons.

“We have lived together with love, presence and gratitude as a way of life, but this little one, Vamika, has taken it to a whole new level,” she wrote.

“Tears, laughter, worry, bliss – emotions that have been experienced in a span of minutes sometimes! Sleep is elusive but our hearts are SO full. Thanking you all for your wishes, prayers and good energy.”

Kohli, who plays for the Indian cricket team, was quick to comment below the picture, writing: “My whole world in one frame," alongside a heart emoji.

This is the first time the couple have shared anything of their daughter, who was born on January 11.

At the time, Kohli wrote on social media: “We are thrilled to share with you that we have been blessed with a baby girl this afternoon. We thank you all for your love, prayers and good wishes. Anushka and the baby are both healthy and we are feeling beyond.”

However, the couple were keen for privacy in the days and weeks following the birth. Alongside a media statement, they sent personalised luxury hampers to paparazzi in Mumbai asking them to respect their wishes.

The couple, who were married in 2017, have still chosen not to share an image of their daughter's face.

Within four hours of posting the picture, it had received more than four million likes, as well as numerous well wishes from fans and celebrity peers.
