Sotheby’s recently held its Magnificent Jewels & Noble Jewels auction in Geneva. The sale has been dubbed the highest ever total for a jewellery auction, bringing in $160.9 million (Dh590.9 million).

The Sunrise Ruby — an extremely rare ruby and diamond Cartier ring weighing 25.59 carats — was estimated to sell between $12-18 million. The actual sale, however, brought in a whopping $30.3 million (Dh110.1 million), making it a world auction record for a ruby sold.

Included in the sale was The Historic Pink, a Fancy Vivid Pink diamond ring weighing in at 8.72 carats. The ring was estimated to bring in between $14-18 million, eventually selling for a total of $15.9 million (Dh58.4 million).
