Lucia Pica, Chanel’s global creative makeup and color designer, has developed a new makeup collection for spring/summer 2017. The line celebrates and reinterprets the five color codes of the maison: red, black, gold, white and beige.
“I want to reverse beauty expectations and have women challenge themselves,” says Pica.
Highlights of the range include silky blush compacts and Les 4 Ombres eyeshadow palettes. Shades of beige have been re-imagined for nails, while salmon pink and lively reds are seasonal spotlights for lips. Go-to additions to the Coco Code spring selection for Pica are high-gloss lip hues and versatile vernis shades.
“My favourite time to wear Rouge Coco Shine Noir Moderne is in the spring. I like the idea of a shade of black.” she says, “I also wanted elements of comfort in the collection – beauty is not just about artifice. With the nail varnish I liked the idea of ‘top coats’ and the transformation of colour through them. It is a continuation of the idea of layering that I began before, but here it is lacquering.”
