French fashion house Hermès, typically known for its luxury handbags, flew in specialists from Paris to offer an exclusive look at its men's bespoke services. The event was held yesterday in Dubai's Volante Tower, in a grand suite that was fittingly given an Hermès overhaul. Pops of the brand's signature orange were cleverly placed around the room, while the iconic "H" logo adorned throws draped over sofas.
While Hermès stores around the world already offer a range of luxury pieces for men, from leather goods to apparel and collectible watches, men can also indulge in the brand’s exclusive bespoke services. Watches may be customised with different straps, cases and engravings, and suits can be designed according to clients’ own measurements.
The Hermès bespoke suits are made up of 144 different pattern pieces, and clients may select from an assortment of materials, linings, collars, lapels and cuffs. The whole process, from being measured to having your custom-made suit delivered, takes around eight weeks. There are 13 different collar style options to choose from, along with two main lapel types, a variety of cuffs and a range of fabrics, both patterned and solid. We’re told that in hotter regions like the Middle East, some men even opt for suits without lining.
Dubai is one of five cities worldwide where men are able to indulge in the made-to-measure service at Hermès. This year will see an exciting new display — an exclusive, one-of-a-kind, travel-inspired storage trunk that will be available for purchase at the city’s latest Hermès boutique, set to open in The Mall of the Emirates at the end of 2016.
Men’s made-to-measure services are available at Hermès’ UAE flagship store at The Dubai Mall.
