Beauty review: the Foreo Luna Play

Facial cleansing brushes have become popular in recent years — because your hands just don’t just cut it anymore — and a number of brands have released their own versions. Swedish beauty brand Foreo has developed its own line, too, except that instead of regular bristle brushes, it offers more effective and hygienic silicone versions.

What it is: The Foreo Luna Play is a pocket-sized cleansing brush, which is compact, easy to use and comes in a variety of colours. It promises to gently, yet thoroughly, cleanse the skin and remove all traces of make-up. This version is not chargeable, and lasts up to 100 minutes.

How to use: Massage some cleanser onto your face, switch on the Luna Play by pressing the small power button at the back, gently massage your face with the bristled side for a minute, and rinse. Wash the brush thoroughly after use and leave it to dry.

Pros: A quick one-minute massage worked wonders to cleanse my skin. Having used it for a few weeks, I found that it works even better than my pricier Clarisonic. It is very gentle on the skin, easier to clean and dries faster. It leaves the skin feeling very smooth, and also helps my skincare products perform better. If you have no prior experience with facial brushes, this is a great way to test the waters — it is also a good option for those on a budget. The Luna Play makes for a nifty addition to a travel beauty kit because it is super-compact, and you don't have to wait too long for the bristles to dry.

Cons: It is not rechargeable, so you will need to purchase a new one every few months.

Where to buy: The Foreo Luna Play is available at Sephora stores across the UAE, and costs Dh180.
