Three people were injured in a shooting at an amusement park near the US city of Chicago on Sunday evening.
The attacker opened fire after getting out of a vehicle in a car park outside Six Flags Great America in Gurnee, Illinois, police said.
A white sedan entered the Six Flags car park and the attacker got out and began shooting towards another person.
After the shooting, the attacker got back in the vehicle and quickly drove away from the amusement park, about 72 kilometres north of Chicago.
A male, 17, and woman, 19, were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening leg injuries, police said.
A third person who suffered a shoulder injury declined to go to the hospital.
“The shooting this evening was not a random act, and appeared to be a targeted incident that occurred outside the park. This was not an active shooter incident inside the park,” Gurnee police said.
Bystander Laurie Walker told WGN News she was inside the park with her daughter, Grace, when the shots were fired.
She said they were waiting in a queue for an attraction at around 7.50pm when people started running in a panic.
“There is an active shooter, get down, get down,” Ms Walker said someone shouted. “We didn’t know what was going on, so we get down.”
Ms Walker and her daughter climbed over two fences to get “out of plain view sight”.
After hiding for a short while, she said she was able to leave the park.
The Northern Illinois Police Alarm System assisted with clearing the theme park of guests and staff, the department said. The incident is under investigation.
Six Flags Great America is a 121-hectare theme park between Chicago and Milwaukee, with 17 rollercoasters, entertainment and three themed areas for children.
Gurnee is in Lake County, about 32km north of Highland Park, where seven people died in a mass shooting during a July Fourth parade.

Real estate tokenisation project
Dubai launched the pilot phase of its real estate tokenisation project last month.
The initiative focuses on converting real estate assets into digital tokens recorded on blockchain technology and helps in streamlining the process of buying, selling and investing, the Dubai Land Department said.
Dubai’s real estate tokenisation market is projected to reach Dh60 billion ($16.33 billion) by 2033, representing 7 per cent of the emirate’s total property transactions, according to the DLD.

How will Gen Alpha invest?
Mark Chahwan, co-founder and chief executive of robo-advisory firm Sarwa, forecasts that Generation Alpha (born between 2010 and 2024) will start investing in their teenage years and therefore benefit from compound interest.
“Technology and education should be the main drivers to make this happen, whether it’s investing in a few clicks or their schools/parents stepping up their personal finance education skills,” he adds.
Mr Chahwan says younger generations have a higher capacity to take on risk, but for some their appetite can be more cautious because they are investing for the first time. “Schools still do not teach personal finance and stock market investing, so a lot of the learning journey can feel daunting and intimidating,” he says.
He advises millennials to not always start with an aggressive portfolio even if they can afford to take risks. “We always advise to work your way up to your risk capacity, that way you experience volatility and get used to it. Given the higher risk capacity for the younger generations, stocks are a favourite,” says Mr Chahwan.
Highlighting the role technology has played in encouraging millennials and Gen Z to invest, he says: “They were often excluded, but with lower account minimums ... a customer with $1,000 [Dh3,672] in their account has their money working for them just as hard as the portfolio of a high get-worth individual.”
