Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, held talks with visiting Yemeni Prime Minister Dr Maeen Abdulmalik on Monday and reviewed the latest developments in the country.

Sheikh Mohamed reaffirmed the UAE’s continuing support for Yemenis. The talks covered Emirati efforts to restore normality in the war-racked country through humanitarian and development programmes, the state news agency Wam reported.

Mr Abdulmalik expressed appreciation for the UAE's efforts to improve living conditions in Yemen, particularly its support for rebuilding public utilities, schools and social services.

The UAE is part of the Saudi-led Arab military coalition supporting the internationally recognised Yemeni government against Iran-backed Houthi rebels who seized the capital in 2014.

The coalition on Monday launched an emergency relief campaign and an air bridge to assist people affected by heavy rains and floods that hit Aden and its neighbouring provinces.

Coalition spokesman Col Turki Al Malki said it was providing food, medicine and housing materials, opening roads, draining flooded streets and residential areas, and repairing electricity networks.
