Donald Trump has arrived in Japan at the start of the longest tour of Asia by a US president in 25 years.
The 12-day trip will see the president travel to South Korea, China, Vietnam and the Philippines.
Mr Trump is expected to show solidarity with South Korea and Japan and urge China to be firmer with North Korea as tensions continue to fray.
After arriving in Tokyo Sunday morning, Mr Trump is expected to meet Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe for lunch before the two leaders play a round of golf - a sport Mr Trump is fond of.
When in Korea, Mr Trump is not expected to go to the heavily fortified demilitarized zone (DMZ) on the border between the South and North.
He will visit Camp Humphreys, a US military complex south of capital Seoul.
In Vietnam, Mr Trump will attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Co-operation summit and make visit to Hanoi.

What is Genes in Space?
Genes in Space is an annual competition first launched by the UAE Space Agency, The National and Boeing in 2015.
It challenges school pupils to design experiments to be conducted in space and it aims to encourage future talent for the UAE’s fledgling space industry. It is the first of its kind in the UAE and, as well as encouraging talent, it also aims to raise interest and awareness among the general population about space exploration.
