Covid-19 cases rise above 1,000 for first time in three weeks

Turkey has introduced new inspection and enforcement rules after daily coronavirus cases jumped above 1,000 for the first time in three weeks.

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's government on Tuesday adopted daily quarantine inspections, contact-tracing regulations in all cities and measures for weddings, funerals and other large gatherings.

Global coronavirus cases stood at 18.5 million on Tuesday, while recoveries reached 11.7 million and the death toll stood at 700,161.

The UAE recorded 189 new cases of Covid-19, after 29,398 tests in 24 hours, with 227 recoveries and no deaths.

The number of cases in the country is now 61,352.
