DUBAI // A woman who stabbed her boyfriend to death before lying on his chest and falling asleep will serve out her 10-year jail sentence in full, the court of appeal has ruled.
The 33-year-old Russian was drunk when she killed the 40-year-old Syrian in the bedroom of his apartment in Al Qusais on August 16, 2014.
She tried to wake her boyfriend, but when he would not get up she sat on top of him and stabbed him.
“He woke up and tried to defend himself but she stabbed him two more times. She then slept with her head on his chest. She called police when she woke up,” said a police officer.
During questioning, the woman said the victim was planning to leave her although she had bought him two cars and given him money.
“She was crying and hysterical. She told me that she was constantly fighting with him because he had relationships with other women and that he promised to marry her but kept breaking his promise,” said another officer.
The woman was convicted of premeditated murder, consensual sex and consuming alcohol without a licence by Dubai Criminal Court. She was also ordered to pay Dh100,000 as compensation to the dead man’s family and will be deported after serving her jail term.
