DUBAI // A woman ran semi-naked through a supermarket to escape a man looking to kidnap her, a Dubai court heard on Wednesday.
Prosecutors said Emirati B A, 31, tried to kidnap Iranian women SS , 33, and 17-year-old F L after they ran away from his home in Oud Mutainah in October last year.
The Emirati and an unidentified man met the victims in a nightclub in Al Muraqabat, where they drank alcohol and then went back to his home afterwards.
F L told prosecutors that when they arrived other men were present smoking shisha.
One of the men asked to have sex with F L, and they went into another room before coming out shortly afterwards, where the other men asked to have sex with the women.
Sensing problems, they decided to run from the house and managed to escape before they were tracked down by the men, who were in a car.
Outside a supermarket the men tried to grab S S and removed most of her clothes and her handbag, containing an iPhone and money, in the process.
She fled in her underwear into the prayer room in the supermarket.
Emirati policeman A A, 47, said they received a call from the supermarket about men attacking and trying get S S in to the car.
CCTV footage shows two men trying to force S S into a white Toyota Camry.
S S, who is on a tourist visa, identified the defendant’s house to police.
The Emirati was charged with attempted kidnapping, consuming alcohol without a licence and theft of Dh4,500 and an iPhone but he did not appear in court on Wednesday to enter a plea.
The next hearing is set for February 24.
