DUBAI // A woman was spotted by police offering sex to passers-by in return for Dh50, Dubai Criminal Court was told.
On March 3 this year, officers from Naif police station arrested the Ugandan woman after observing her offering sexual services to men in the street.
Prosecutors said she gave a fake name to police but an eye scan revealed the woman was a 26-year-old who had been deported from the country but had illegally returned.
She confessed to prosecutors that she was an illegal immigrant and that she had been working as a prostitute.
In court on Thursday the woman only confessed to the prostitution charge.
A verdict is expected on July 14.

Moral education needed in a 'rapidly changing world'
Moral education lessons for young people is needed in a rapidly changing world, the head of the programme said.
Alanood Al Kaabi, head of programmes at the Education Affairs Office of the Crown Price Court - Abu Dhabi, said: "The Crown Price Court is fully behind this initiative and have already seen the curriculum succeed in empowering young people and providing them with the necessary tools to succeed in building the future of the nation at all levels.
