DUBAI // A waiter accused of molesting a female colleague told Dubai Criminal Court that he was drunk and could not remember what he had done.
Prosecutors said that on February 1, Pakistani MD, 25, grabbed the Filipina woman and tried to kiss her but she resisted his advances.
He was charged with sexual assault and consuming alcohol without a licence.
“I don’t remember what had happened, I was drunk,” said the waiter in court on Thursday morning.
The 34-year-old Filipina said: “I was heading home at about 3.30am that night when he blocked my way and pulled me by the arm, he even tore my jacket because he pulled me hard when I resisted him. I was also injured.”
The man left and she immediately reported the matter to police.
Police and prosecutors said the defendant confessed to drinking alcohol but did not confess to molestation.
A verdict is expected on April 30.
