DUBAI // More than 100 volunteers took part in landscaping and painting work as well as assembling and installing a new playground at Al Rashidyah Private School in Ajman.

The men and women installed shelving units, upgrading the school theatre, adding books to the library and upgrading the canteen as part of the third edition of Volunteer Emirates initiative by Dubai Cares.

“Volunteer Emirates has been a truly inspiring initiative,” said Hassan Ali Tahir. “Through our collective volunteering efforts, we were able to enrich the learning environment of the school and provide them with the appropriate educational environment to prosper.”

Tariq Al Gurg, chief executive officer at Dubai Cares, said people in UAE possess a deep-rooted spirit of charitable giving and volunteering. “Their response to our volunteering initiatives, whether here or abroad, is a testament to that.

“Over the past years, Volunteer Emirates has proven to be immensely popular with citizens and residents of the UAE, who feel compelled to give their time and energy to help children get the best possible start in life with quality education facilitated by excellent facilities,” said Mr Al Gurg.

Mariam Al Hamadi, principal of Al Rashidyah Private School, said work done by the volunteers will have a positive impact on the learning environment and on students.
