Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, met Dennis Ross, the US special envoy to the Gulf and South-west Asia, on Thursday, the state news agency, WAM, reported last night. The meeting was held at the Emirates Palace hotel, where discussions centred on the current situation in the region and the bilateral relations between the two nations.
Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed, the Foreign Minister, Dr Anwar Gargash, the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Mana al Oteiba, the UAE ambassador in Washington, and Richard G Olson Jr, the US ambassador to the UAE, all attended the talks. Mr Ross joined President Barack Obama's foreign policy team in February when he was drafted as special adviser on the Gulf to Hillary Clinton, the secretary of state.
