UMM AL QUWAIN // Umm Al Quwain Autism Centre has welcomed 37 patients in the first phase of its opening.

The centre, which will have room for 150 patients when fully open, will be largest of its kind in the country, reported Aletihad, The National's Arabic-language sister newspaper.

Wafa Bin Suleiman, director of care and rehabilitation of the disabled at the Ministry of Community Development, said the centre will offer education and rehabilitation programmes for the patients.

It would also have a research centre and training facilities for students, where they can earn diplomas in autism care.

The centre is due to be officially opened in April next year.
