UAE space programme highlighted at ceremony in US

DUBAI // The Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre has taken part in a ceremony organised by the UAE Embassy in the United States.

Officials from Nasa participated in the event, which was co-sponsored by the UAE Space Agency, Yahsat and Thuraya Telecommunications.

At the ceremony, officials from the centre briefed those present on current projects such as the UAE Mars Mission, KhalifaSat and DubaiSat-2.

Salem Al Marri, the centre’s assistant director general for scientific and technical affairs, informed guests about the design and implementation of the Hope probe to Mars, and praised the work done by Emirati engineers on space research.

A book about the Mars mission was presented to embassy officials and employees.

The centre also took part in the Satellite 2016 Conference during the visit to the US.
