Australian meat is being provided to Palestinian families in need as part of an agreement between the UAE charity group Human Appeal International and the Palestinian religious affairs ministry.
The project is part of the sacrificial meat project, an initiative implemented each year across Palestinian territories to distribute provisions to the poor, state news agency Wam said.
An agreement to continue the aid programme has been signed by the Palestinian ministry’s zakat fund, and is part of an ongoing partnership to deliver help to areas where it is most needed.
Sheikh Yusuf Adeis, the Palestinian minister of religious affairs, said the gesture was the latest example in a long line of help being offered to those facing economic crisis due to high poverty and unemployment rates.
”The strong existing relations between the Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs to Palestine and the UAE charitable and humanitarian organisations such as the HAI aims to alleviate the suffering of Palestinians,” he said.
