UAE carriers still not flying to Tripoli

Emirates Airlines in Dubai and Etihad in Abu Dhabi say they are continuing to monitor the situation in Libya.

Flights to the Libyan capital Tripoli by the UAE's two major carriers are still suspended although security forces managed to reopen the city's airport yesterday.

Emirates Airlines in Dubai and Etihad in Abu Dhabi say they are continuing to monitor the situation in Libya.

"At the moment, Emirates has no immediate plans to resume services to Tripoli," said an Emirates spokesman. "However, we continue to monitor the situation closely."

On Tuesday, Etihad cancelled a scheduled flight from Abu Dhabi to Tripoli after gunmen seized control of the airport.
