DUBAI // Two Asian men have been arrested after police seized more than eight kilograms of heroin and crystal meth.
Two plastic bags carrying 6.6kg of heroin in 800 capsules, and 2.2kg of crystal meth in 286 capsules, were allegedly found in the bedroom and car of B K, 38. Dubai Police claim it was his role to stash the drugs, received from co-accused G K, 50.
Maj Gen Khalil Al Mansouri, assistant to the chief of Dubai Police in Criminal Investigation Affairs, said the men smuggled the drugs into Dubai but B K was arrested near a restaurant in Al Raffa.
“After we searched and interrogated him, the man admitted to possessing huge amounts of two drugs: heroin and crystal meth,” he said.
Col Eid Hareb, who is the director of the anti-narcotics department, said: “The suspect admitted to smuggling the drugs into Dubai from another emirate with the help of a second suspect, a week before he was arrested.
“They were following instructions from an Asian drug dealer who lives abroad.
“B K’s role in the operation was to receive the drugs from the other suspect, G K, and hide them in his home until instructed to hand over to a third party.”
Col Hareb said G K was arrested at Sharjah International Airport while trying to flee to his home country, and had resisted arrest.
G K went to an industrial area with B K to give him the drugs for safekeeping at his home. Both men were transferred to prosecutors, who accused G K of promoting drugs and B K of possessing and promoting drugs, and living here illegally.
