ABU DHABI // Motorists are being urged to use caution while driving due to high winds and low visibility.

The National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology said 37kph winds are stirring up dust and sand, creating poor conditions on roads.

On Monday, visibility was recorded as low as 200 metres in western parts of the country.

Forecasters also warned of rough seas in the Arabian Gulf.

Winds of up to 111 kph from the south were said to be creating two-metre high waves, prompting calls for vessels to remain in port.

A meteorologist with the weather bureau said the harsh conditions could last until Wednesday.

Temperatures are expected to climb during the week with a high of 34°C.
