A motorcyclist died after crashing into a bus in one of two fatal accidents on Dubai's roads over the weekend.

The rider smashed into the back of the vehicle after it came to a sudden halt due to a mechanical failure, sadly dying as a result of his injuries.

The tragic incident occurred at about 1am on Saturday on Sheikh Zayed Road.

The age and nationality of the deceased have yet to be disclosed.

A pedestrian was killed in the early hours of Friday after he and a group of fellow workers, all of Asian descent, were struck by a car in Al Rashidiya.

Police said two of the workers who were standing on the left side of a two-way road in that area, were badly hurt.

“One died shortly and the other sustained serious injuries,” a Dubai Police source said.
