Two men injured in head-on crash on unpaved Dubai road

Both men ended up trapped in their lorries and police had to use special cutting equipment to free them.

DUBAI // Two men were injured on Thursday in a head-on collision on an unpaved road leading to a landfill site just off the Dubai-Al Ain Road.

Lt Col Ahmed Burqibah, deputy director of the Search and Rescue Department at Dubai Police, said both men were trapped in their lorries.

“One man was seriously injured, while the other sustained moderate injuries,” he said. “They were both trapped and couldn’t get out, so we used special hydraulic equipment to free them.

“Both were taken to hospital after being treated.”

Lt Col Burqibah urged motorists to drive carefully, especially on sandy or unpaved roads.
