ABU DHABI // A speeding 4x4 hit a police patrol car outside Al Wathba on the road towards Al Ain on Tuesday.
The driver was distracted from the road and did not see the traffic signs warning of an accident ahead. There were no severe injuries.
Abu Dhabi Police urged motorists to comply with traffic rules and speed limits, to stay focused on the road and pay attention to patrols that ensure the safety of all road users.
Road users are being urged to refrain from posting and circulating photos of accidents on social media, and to make sure they obtain any such information from official authorities.
The police also called upon motorists to step up efforts to ensure traffic safety during Ramadan as part of the initiative Your Safety, Our Happiness.
The initiative aims to ensure safety of road users during Ramadan by buckling up, refraining from using mobile phones when driving, leaving enough space between vehicles and paying attention to the road.
