The second phase in an Emirates Road project has been inaugurated by the Ministry of Infrastructure Development.
The 16-kilometre stretch of road was built at a cost of Dh142 million and will connect Ras Al Khaimah and Umm Al Quwain.
Abdullah Al Nuaimi, Minister of Infrastructure Development, said the road would enhance the federal road network and ease traffic flow on parallel axes such as Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road and Al Ittihad Road.
The road will be linked to RAK Ring Road in the next phase, to connect all northern emirates from Al Dhara checkpoint to Abu Dhabi City. The third phase of the project will extend over seven kilometres and is expected to be finished next year, according to Wam, the state news agency.
