RAS AL KHAIMAH // Maintenance and upgrade works have started on roads around the emirate that were damaged by flooding caused during a rain storm last week.
Sheikh Rashid bin Said road as well as roads close to Al Safer mall in Al Dhait, were flooded with motorists forced to find alternative routes.
“Sheikh Rashid bin Said road will be temporarily closed for 48 hours,” said Ahmad Al Hamadi, head of the Public Works department. “The maintenance on the road will be finished within one week.”
The department identified several other locations based on complaints received from residents and plans to fix and upgrade the drainage system to be able to withstand high amounts of rain water.
