DUBAI // A social media campaign to raise public awareness about the dangers of entering the yellow box junction has been hailed a success.

Major Abdullah bin Huwaidi, Head of Communication Channels at the Department of Security Awareness at Dubai Police, said 242,146 people viewed videos and information published on social media, while 5,428 interacted with the campaign by commenting on its importance.

The campaign aims at preventing traffic jams in yellow box junctions, said Maj bin Huwaidi, explaining that motorists who enter the junction as soon as the traffic light turns green, even though the junction ahead is not clear, may cause accidents.

Maj bin Huwaidi said the fine for entering a yellow box junction when the way is not clear is Dh500.
