Abu Dhabi Police to send detailed traffic violation texts

ABU DHABI // Mobile phone text messages that inform drivers they have committed a motoring offence will soon contain extra information.

The messages will detail the time and date of an offence, plus the location of the camera that caught the violation, reported Aletihad, the sister newspaper of The National.

The messages will also include the cost of the fine and the total amount owed by a driver.

Brigadier Ali Khalfan Al Dhaheri, director general of central operations at Abu Dhabi Police, said the new text message system would allow motorists to keep a record of their traffic fines, particularly if someone else was using their vehicle.
