ABU DHABI // Three people were hurt after part of a bridge over a roundabout in the Al Raha Beach area collapsed on Thursday morning.
The men suffered moderate to severe injuries after concrete beams fell while being installed at the under construction bridge. They were taken to hospital where their conditions were described as stable.
Police set up traffic diversions in the area after the accident at about 8am.
Col Jamal Al Ameri, head of public relations at Abu Dhabi traffic police, urged drivers to reduce their speed and follow any instructions from officers.
“There was no rush-hour traffic in the morning so no major delays were reported,” Col Jamal said.
Motorists near the roundabout were unable to turn towards Al Zeina, forcing them to use the back roads in front of Al Muneera to access the residential neighbourhood.
Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
