DUBAI // A man has been sentenced to a year in prison for assaulting his wife’s tenant.
On March 19, the 30-year-old Romanian walked into the Mirdiff villa and hugged the British tenant, Dubai Criminal Court was told.
She pushed him away and ordered him to leave, but the defendant shoved her back, causing injury to her shoulder.
The woman’s mother, who lived with her at the time, then screamed at the man and asked him to leave.
“He threatened to break her legs if she was not quiet and told her he could kick us out of the villa,” the victim said.
An Iraqi flight attendant who also lived in the villa with the Briton was in his room when he heard the women’s screams from the first floor.
The accused denied the charges in court last June but was found guilty of trespassing, issuing threats and attacking the woman. He will be deported after serving his jail term.
