Thieves hit cars after drivers withdraw cash

SHARJAH // Police believe thieves who stole about Dh786,000 (US$214,000) from parked cars watched and followed their victims from the bank. A man reported yesterday that Dh582,000 had been taken from his car, which was parked on Arouba Street in Sharjah. The man had withdrawn the money from a bank before driving to pick up some documents from another area. He parked his car and when he returned the money had been taken, police said.

On Tuesday, Dh161,000, which an employee had withdrawn from a bank, was stolen from a ceramics company. On the same day Dh43,000 was stolen from another car in the city. The cash, which belonged to a garments shop, had been left briefly in a company car. "We want to caution all residents to be very careful after withdrawing money. " ykakande@thenational.ae
