Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed honours supporters of youth development fund

  • English
  • Arabic

Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed honoured the supporters of Sandooq Al Watan, a national fund for youth development, on Monday.

The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces said the UAE nationals who have been contributing to achieving the initiative's national objectives since its establishment "embody the quintessential Emirati values of giving, the seeds of which were sown by late Sheikh Zayed".

Among those recognised were Aldar Properties, the Armed Forces Officers Hotel and Club, Ali Khalfan Al Dhaheri, Sultan Rashid Al Dhaheri, Nagui Hassan Al Harthi and Marawan and Hassan Al Rostamani.

Red flags
  • Promises of high, fixed or 'guaranteed' returns.
  • Unregulated structured products or complex investments often used to bypass traditional safeguards.
  • Lack of clear information, vague language, no access to audited financials.
  • Overseas companies targeting investors in other jurisdictions - this can make legal recovery difficult.
  • Hard-selling tactics - creating urgency, offering 'exclusive' deals.

The Energy Research Centre

Founded 50 years ago as a nuclear research institute, scientists at the centre believed nuclear would be the “solution for everything”.
Although they still do, they discovered in 1955 that the Netherlands had a lot of natural gas. “We still had the idea that, by 2000, it would all be nuclear,” said Harm Jeeninga, director of business and programme development at the centre.
"In the 1990s, we found out about global warming so we focused on energy savings and tackling the greenhouse gas effect.”
The energy centre’s research focuses on biomass, energy efficiency, the environment, wind and solar, as well as energy engineering and socio-economic research.
