Sharjah crash causes traffic chaos

SHARJAH // An accident involving multiple vehicles at the Dubai-Sharjah border this morning has disrupted traffic flow throughout Sharjah and Ajman.

The pile-up on the Emirates Road, which included at least 10 cars, occurred at about 8am. Dubai and Sharjah traffic police were co-operating to clear the debris and advise motorists as to alternate routes for more than two hours. First reports indicated that there were few injuries.

“Only one person was injured on our side,” said Col Ahmed bin Darwish, the director general of the Sharjah police patrol unit. “The injured suffered minor fractures and was transported to the Al Qassimi hospital.”

Traffic snarls resulting from the incident could be seen as far as Ajman.
