Sharjah boy in serious condition after being run over by bus

SHARJAH // A 13-year-old boy sustained severe injuries after being run over by a school bus in the Sharjah industrial area this afternoon.

The Arab student was hit by the bus at around 1pm and taken to Al Qassimi hospital, according to police.

The incident happened when another student put his school bag on the bus' transmission box, accidentally shifting the gear stick to reverse.

The bus backed into the 13-year-old who was standing behind the vehicle, and smashed into another bus.

The bus driver, who had left the ignition switch on, was not present at the time of the incident.

Police said they are investigating the matter to determine who was at fault.
