Security guard cleared of sexually assaulting woman, but jailed for biting her parents

The guard was acquitted of sexual assault but was sentenced to one month in jail for physically assaulting the accuser's parents.

DUBAI // A security guard was cleared of sexually assaulting an Indian woman but convicted of biting her parents.

The 37-year-old Pakistani approached the 21-year-old student at 9pm in her building’s gym in Bur Dubai and told her it was about to close.

“When I tried to leave I found the door locked, then he came towards me and attempted to sexually assault me,” she said.

She pushed him away and ran to her flat, she said, and told her parents what had happened.

Her mother and father then went to the gym with their daughter. The guard ran off when he saw them, the student said.

Her 52-year-old father caught up with the guard who bit him on the finger while his wife was bitten on the arm.

“I confronted him but he denied it and said he had no idea why she was accusing him of such a thing, and when I asked about camera footage he said there were no cameras,” the father said.

The guard denied a sexual assault charge when he appeared in Dubai Criminal Court.

“I assaulted them only after they assaulted me, but I didn’t molest their daughter,” he said.

He was acquitted of sexual assault but sentenced to one month in jail for physically assaulting the couple. He was additionally fined Dh1,000.
