A pedestrian was killed after being struck by a car while crossing a road in Ras Al Khaimah.
The driver tried to avoid hitting the man but was unable to do so, police said.
The Asian man, who is in his 20s, died before he could be transferred to hospital.
The accident occurred at about 10pm on Saturday evening on RAK Airport Road.
Police said the man had not checked the road was clear before attempting to cross.
“The Emirati driver, in his forties, tried to avoid hitting the man but he failed,” said Major Salem Bourguiba, Head of Traffic and Patrol Department of Ras Al Khaimah Police.
He urged pedestrian to abide by traffic laws, use designated pedestrian crossing areas and make sure that the road is clear before crossing.
The incident remains under investigation.
