Passengers robbed after accepting a ride in Ajman

AJMAN// Three men have been arrested on suspicion of robbing people after offering them a ride in their car.

The men, from an African country, would drive around Al Manama in a rental car and pull over beside people, mostly Asians, who were waiting for taxis, said Col Khaled Mohammed Al Nuaimi, director of the outer regions Police Department at Ajman Police.

“They pick up passengers who are waiting and take them to external roads. Then the driver fabricates a problem and starts yelling at the passengers claiming his wallet was lost.

“He then asks all of the passengers to get out of the car so that he can inspect them. When the victims get out, the three men steal their money and possessions,” said Col Al Nuaimi.

The men were arrested after several people reported being robbed.

Their case has been transferred to the public prosecution.
