DUBAI // The rooftops of Dubai’s skyscrapers are the latest playground for Russian parkour athlete Egor Minasov.
The 23-year-old, who is also a model and photographer, posted two clips on his YouTube account of himself running around, doing backflips and hanging from the rooftops of buildings in Dubai Marina last week.
Minasov, who left Dubai on Sunday, said that he really enjoyed his time in the emirate.
“This was my first time in Dubai,” he said. “I don’t know when but I think I will come back because it is an unbelievable place. I loved [it].
“I’m in Moscow now, because I have work here. If I [could] live and work in Dubai, I would not hesitate to move. Dubai is a beautiful city.”
The first 25-second clip, Capital of rooftops, and the second 15-second video, Fear God, have accumulated more than 4,000 views.
He also posted a shorter version of one of his clips on Instagram, saying: "I'm in [the] capital of rooftops, Dubai. It's the best place [in] the world, and I love them so much."
Minasov, who has more than 23,000 Instagram followers, posted another two pictures on the social media application. In one his feet were hanging off a building in Downtown Dubai, and another was of him posing on a rooftop with the backdrop of Dubai Marina’s skyscrapers.
Invented in the gritty suburbs of Paris, the urban sport of parkour has boomed in popularity in recent years.
Parkour, which is derived from the French work “parcours”, literally means “the way through” or “the path”.
