DUBAI // A boxing glove signed by Filipino boxing star Manny Pacquiao was sold for Dh16,000 at an auction at the Cavendish Maxwell Fight Night in Dubai on Friday.
The money will be donated to the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Charity and Humanitarian Establishment, named for Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai.
At the event, two teams of amateur boxers battled for the title of strongest and fittest over eight bouts of white collar-style boxing. Two professional fights were also held.
Three-time Arab Muay Thai champion Taha Alami was among those who attended, organisers said.
The event was held by Cavendish Maxwell, a real estate consultancy company, organised the black-tie event, which took place at the JW Marriott Marquis hotel in Dubai.
