RAS AL KHAIMAH // An Emirati biker organised a parade to thank a doctor who saved his life by the roadside after an accident.
Fareed Al Hammadi was riding his Harley-Davidson along Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road on his way to meet friends in Ajman on May 5, 2016 when a lorry swerved into his lane, knocking him from his bike.
Lying unconscious, the 26-year-old was in a critical condition but Dr Talal Mouzaek was passing and stabilised Mr Al Hammadi until paramedics arrived.
Now that Mr Al Hammadi is able to ride again, he has arranged a parade that he can take part in to thank Dr Mouzaek.
“I always thank God for sending the doctor to save my life for me and my family. I will never ever forget his outstanding actions in helping me to have a second chance to be alive and be surrounded by my family and friends,” Mr Al Hammadi said.
“Dr Talal has a special place in my heart. Because of what he did for me, I decided to thank him by doing a motorbike parade with my biker friends, although he deserves more than that.”
Dr Mouzaek, who was amazed with Thursday morning’s parade in RAK, said he is pleased to see Mr Al Hammadi in good health and back on his bike.
“It was a nice and happy surprise. I thought I will just see Fareed but then I saw his first family [close friends]. What they did was outstanding,” the Syrian emergency medicine specialist said.
He added that he sees emergency cases every day at the hospital where he works, but Mr Al Hammadi is special.
“Fareed is a special patient for me because other patients usually come to me but for Fareed I am the one who went to him,” said the 39-year-old.
Dr Mouzaek’s wife, Elena Goncharov, 37, said: “I am very proud of having a husband who actually saves people’s lives.
“It is his job inside the hospital but when he also does it outside the hospital as well, that’s even more power to save people’s lives.”
