ABU DHABI // Do you have an innovative idea to solve an everyday problem? If so, the Ministry of Community Development wants to hear from you.

On Monday, the ministry launched a website on which the public can submit their ideas to solve challenges.

“Community envelopment is only possible by involving everyone,” said Sana Suhail, undersecretary of the ministry.

The website, which is in Arabic and English, allows members of the public to give ideas to improve their communities and upload related documents to support them.

The idea could help those with special needs, the elderly or working mothers who cannot afford a nanny, said Ms Suhail.

There could also be ideas to get young people to socialise without using technology, she said.

“I do not want to impose ideas, I am just thinking out loud,” said Ms Suhail.

She said she hoped the initiative would involve all sections of the community. The ministry will review the proposed ideas with a group of specialists.

“The best ideas will be implemented as projects, initiatives or policies that support innovation in the UAE, in collaboration with the ministry’s partners,” said Ms Suhail.

The website has been launched after a call from Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, for more innovations from the community to mark this year’s UAE Innovation Week 2016.
