Men stole Dh70,000 worth of jewellery from Emirati woman, police said

Two Arab nationals who allegedly stole jewellery worth Dh70,000 from an Emirati woman have been arrested.

Col Rashid Mohammed Bourshid, the head of Abu Dhabi Police CID, said the victim posted the diamond and gold jewellery for sale on a website last month.

The 24-old received a call from the two men who claimed they were interested buying the items and she agreed to meet them a school car park.

The first man arrived and checked the jewellery, before calling his partner. Once he arrived, both men attacked the victim with a stun gun, stole the bag containing the jewellery and fled.

The victim alerted the police who were able to identify the men and retrieve the stolen items.

A A, 21, and M S, 31 confessed to the crime.

Lt Col Taher Al Dhaheri, head of the Organised Crime Section at the CID, warned the public against falling victim to scammers and not to use unregulated websites.
