DUBAI // Two men murdered their sponsor by slitting his throat before stealing more than Dh200,000 in cash, Dubai Criminal Court heard yesterday.

Prosecutors said that Pakistani M A, 22, who was jailed for 10 years, restrained F Z last year, while his compatriot, M F, 25, killed him. They then stole three packets of cash – two containing dirhams and one US dollars – and fled the scene. M F was given a life sentence.

Prosecutors said the two men travelled to Sharjah to meet M A A, a 23-year-old Pakistani, who they asked to arrange for them to be smuggled out of the country.

“M F said he had killed his sponsor and that he and M A wanted to leave the country, so I arranged it with another man, M M, who requested Dh5,000 from each of them to help them flee unnoticed,” M A A told prosecutors.

At 4.20am on December 12, Afghan M B, 35, returned to his apartment and found F Z’s body.

He said that when he left the apartment earlier that evening, the victim was in the company of M F, whom he had fallen out with in the past.

Both men will be deported after completing their prison terms.
