DUBAI // The court of appeal upheld a sexual assault conviction and a three-month jail sentence for a man who kissed the hand of a female employee.
“I never did anything to her, not even touch her. I am innocent,” Indian manager M P, 43, told the criminal court in March.
On February 19, he kissed the hand of Emirati female employee K A, 26.
“I was at Terminal 2 of Dubai International Airport where I work. I took a short break and headed to the Indian airline section, where the defendant was,” said K A, a customer service agent.
She said that M P joined her in the break room and they spoke about her aviation exam.
“I went to the testing room and logged into the system to check the exam. He came and said he could help me. I agreed, then I accidentally dropped my pen,” she said. “When I reached for it he grabbed my hand and kissed it, telling me not to worry and that he would help me pass”.
She was upset and left the room. She told her husband and they complained to airport police.
Prosecutors said he confessed during investigations but in criminal and appeal courts he denied a charge of sexual assault.
