DUBAI // A man tried to pull gold bracelets from a woman’s wrist while she was walking with her husband and child in Al Rafaa, Dubai Criminal Court was told.
The Indian victim and her family were walking near the Dubai Museum on the evening of November 11 last year. The husband was carrying his daughter when he heard his wife scream.
“I looked and saw a man trying to pull her bracelets,” he told prosecutors, and when he put his child down to help his wife the attacker snatched an envelope from his pocket.
“The envelope contained Dh2,800 and 9,400 Indian rupees,” said the husband, who gave chase and managed to catch the man with the help of passers-by. He called police who apprehended the man but no money was found on him, the court was told.
The accused, a 35-year-old Ethiopian, denied charges of forceful theft and attempted theft.
A verdict is expected on May 1.
