DUBAI // A sales manager was sentenced to jail for three months for blackmailing a woman to strip for him by threatening to post pictures of her on the internet.

Prosecutors charged the Syrian A T, 45, with blackmail and issuing threats.

The victim, J A, said she met his sister on BlackBerry Messenger.

“We became good friends and we exchanged pictures, then she told me her brother had seen my picture and wanted to marry me,” she said.

In June last year she was chatting with the man on Skype, when she saw he was filming her on his mobile phone.

“He asked me to strip for him or he would post all the pictures and films he had made on YouTube and other social networks, which made me give in,” she said.

The victim said the defendant later threatened to post the video of her stripping online if she did not have sex with him.

A A, a Yemeni policeman, said the defendant told him he had made the threats to scare her as she had stopped taking his calls.

Prosecutors said they searched the defendant’s electronic devices and found inappropriate images of women, but none were of the victim.

They, however, did find threatening messages to her. The court ordered his laptop be confiscated.
