ABU DHABI // A man who is accused of promoting ISIL on social media and pledging his allegiance to the terrorist organisation in a video, denied his charges at the state security court on Monday.

K S, a 37-year-old from Palestine, is accused of starting the Twitter account to spread promotional information on ISIL.

He allegedly described it as the “bayonet of Muslims”, referred to its leader as a “lion’s cub”, that supporting him is a victory and that his reign is valid.

He is accused of publishing two videos which showed footage of Dubai and its monuments with ISIL-produced audio playing in the background. One of the scenes is said to have showed a caption that pledges allegiance to ISIL’s emir and pledges support to him in the UAE.

Prosecutors accused him of possessing the videos; “it promotes and encourages a terrorist organisation (ISIL), and has been produced to be viewed by others, even though he knew of the reality and purposes of the organisation.”

K F denied all of charges against him, and stressed that he did not capture any footage and/or published it as they had claimed.

The case has been adjourned until January 18 to listen to defence.
